Franquette walnut is an old French variety discovered in the early 1800's. with a small walnut well sealed, thin shell. One of the last Walnuts to break dormancy; late spring frost is rarely a concern. Franquette walnut once the dominant walnut planted throughout the west. This species is known for its highly marbled characteristics most commonly used for high end gun stocks.
